Hello, my name is Aoife O'Carroll and I'm part of the PlacesToStay.com team. I'm here to tell you about the great places you can experience when you book with us.
Most places would be happy to have the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, a host of historic wonders, and possibly the best traditional music in Ireland as their main attractions, but Clare has managed to squeeze in some pretty spectacular beaches too. See our top five:
This pretty strand close to Ballyvaughan in north Clare offers spectacular views across Galway bay and the Burren. It is a little stony in parts, but it still makes an ideal location for a family day out. You’ll find it a few kilometres past the village of Ballyvaughan just off the R447 road to Fanore, on a narrow, marked byroad. Lifeguards patrol in summer, and there is a car park.
From the Irish fainne an oir, meaning "ring of gold,"Â Fanore is a perfectly named stretch of the most glistening sand you will find anywhere in Ireland. The backdrop of the Burren on the coast road makes the approach simply breathtaking. An exquisite beach for picnics, walks, and safe swimming, Fanore is pummelled by mighty Atlantic breakers that make it a surfing and kite-flying hotspot. Lifeguards operate in summer, and it is served by a car park and surf school.
