Hi, my name is Caragh. It's my responsibility to ensure that all our customers have a great rental experience on PlacesToStay.com. My favourite place to stay in Ireland is Dingle!
With 147km of coastline and a location on Ireland’s “sunny south east,” Waterford is perfect for a beach break. And you won’t have to go far: There are 49 beaches scattered along the coast of this county. Take the South East Coastal Drive from Wexford Town to Ardmore to experience the widest selection of these locations, or just take your pick from our top five.
Ardmore is a traditional seaside village that retained its authentic character while other coastal towns succumbed to overdevelopment. A short drive west from Dungarvan, it is a thriving tourist destination in summer and home to one of the best beaches in West Waterford. The village is a picturesque place to refuel after a day at the beach.
Travel 8 km on the coastal road from Tramore to Dungarvan to discover Annestown, a small but perfectly formed beach backed by spectacular cliffs that offer wonderful walks. Admire the Atlantic without feeling its chill on this sheltered stretch of golden sand. The beach also offers fine views upstream of the Annestown River all the way inland to Dunhill Castle.
Nestling among red sandstone cliffs and secluded coves, Dunmore East is a 15-minute drive from Waterford Airport. It overlooks Hook Head lighthouse and offers two wonderful beaches: the south-facing Counsellor's Beach and Ladies Cove in the village.
A delightfully kitschy seafront, stunning 5km beach, and 30-metre-high sand dunes make Tramore the most popular of County Waterford’s seaside resorts. This is the best served Waterford beach destination in terms of amenities. There is a strong emphasis on preserving the local beach environment among local activities companies, so it’s an ideal location for surfing with the family.
Located on the western side of Waterford Harbour near the fishing port of Dunmore East, Woodstown beach is a safe sandy strand that is ideal for swimming when the tide is in. Wait for the tide to recede and you have the perfect location for collecting seashells and building sandcastles. As you might have gathered from this description, Woodstown is very popular among families and is a great place to bring a picnic.
